About Us
We live on 8 acres surrounded by grain fields and cattle pastures about 15 minutes SE of Consort, AB (almost to the Saskatchewan border).

We are natural and holistic and Mother Nature is our Chief Executive Officer.

The study of biology guides us, not cat-breeder dogma, and we firmly believe all animals have value, not just "purebreds".

We believe, first and foremost, that natural nutrition - real food - is the key to health - real health.
We do not subscribe to the insane amount of fear-mongering by the allopathic or modern medical system, and we do not support the billion-dollar pharmaceutical industry or the billion-dollar big food organizations.
THE MORE HEALTHY AND RESPONSIBLY BRED ANIMALS ARE AVAILABLE AS COMPANIONS, AT A REASONABLE PRICE, THE LESS SELFISH, IRRESPONSIBLE AND PROFIT-SEEKING BREEDING WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Why are we breeding?
We choose to breed because our society NEEDS physically and psychologically HEALTHY animal companions.
Not the ones costing thousands of dollars or the ones rescued and needing homes.
There needs to be a middle road.
We need to intentionally and responsibly breed healthy animals for our companions and friends.
I don't want to see more animals inbred or line-bred to achieve the latest and most popular look and style. In some cases, the cost of the 'purebred' has already become irreparable.
I don't want them fiddled with and stylized to be without fur, facial structure, exaggerated traits or supersized, and - I certainly don't want them malnourished, traumatized, and terrified of life.
Every animal deserves to be cared about and allowed to start life 'responsibly bred'!
We are given dire warnings not to breed our companion animals.

These warnings come with many worst-case scenarios, complete with some serious fear-mongering.

"Breeding should only be done to 'improve the breed', which requires a strong knowledge of the pedigrees …"

"The number of homeless pets, dogs and cats alike, unable to find forever homes is heartbreaking."

Of course, there's much more, but these two statements basically summarise the indoctrinated and generalized view.

There are two camps. "Purebred" are the only ones who should be intentionally bred (and pure breeding has many rules and regulations to make it worth the cost).

On the other hand, there are far too many animals without homes, and no more should be bred until we find homes for the ones we already have.

The COVID-19 event brought out the worst in the human race as far as our companion animals are concerned.
At the beginning of the shutdown, there were not enough breeders to meet the demand and the shelters were emptied. (Which goes to show that - if the human race really wanted to - the overflowing shelters could be a thing of the past almost instantly!)
People wanted pets to keep them company while they were shut away from everyday life and society.

Once the world opened up again, those animals were dumped at shelters, and today shelters and rescues are still bursting at the seams.

But, where do all these animals come from in the first place?

-
#1 is irresponsible people not taking proper care of their pets. They aren't accountable for having their kittens and puppies spayed or neutered at an appropriate age, and they allow their pets to reproduce, intentionally or otherwise.
-
They give or sell the offspring to other careless people, and those people are also careless, and - the cycle never, ever ends!
-
Selfish and irresponsible people include Back-Yard-Breeders, For-Profit-Only-Breeders, and - the worst of the worst, Puppy and Kitty Mills.

Costly pedigree animals don't usually end up in shelters or abandoned, but some certainly do.
Many back-yard and for-profit-only breeders have pedigreed and registered animals, but those animals are likely to have forged or false pedigrees or the papers may not even be for the animals being bred.

We do not have a responsible and legitimate middle-of-the-road.

Our choices are:

-
Spending thousands on presumably responsibly bred purebreds,
-
Going online and taking our chances that we find an honest person with healthy animals, or
-
Going to a shelter and 'rescuing' one.

Here's a thought.
How about we stop taking over the responsibility and picking up the tab for the thousands of selfish and irresponsible people? Those people need to be held accountable for their choices and actions, period.

The current belief and expectation among people who ethically breed animals is that the breeder is responsible for the animals they intentionally bring onto the planet—from the day they are born until the day they leave the earth.

How about we turn that around?
If YOU get a pet, it is YOUR responsibility - from the day YOU CHOOSE to bring it into YOUR home until the day he or she crosses Rainbow Bridge.

Our companion animals are not toys. They are not something to get one day and toss into the recycle box the next or leave behind when you move, have a baby, or find a new boyfriend or girlfriend.

They are living, breathing, sentient beings who deserve better - with or without a pedigree behind them.
